MHEFI Announces Formation of Al Wurz Scholarship Fund

The Material Handling Education Foundation, Inc. (MHEFI) is pleased to announce the formation of the Al Wurz Scholarship Fund. This fund was made possible from generous contributions totaling $176,621 from Jane, Ron, and Dave Wurz, his loving family. 

 

The Al Wurz Scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student studying at universities and colleges in the United States in the targeted programs of Industrial Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and/or Civil and Structural Engineering with a focus on material handling, logistics and supply chain.

 

Mr. Wurz, who passed away on April 26, 2022, is the founder of Accu-Sort Systems, Inc. and is widely considered a pioneer in the barcode scanning industry.   Al’s vision and his company’s products helped meet the demand for ever increasing throughput in the material handling industry.  Wurz served on the MHI Board of Governors and was a Lifetime Director of the Material Handling Education Foundation. 

 

If you would like to donate to the Al Wurz Scholarship Fund, please visit https://www.mhi.org/mhefi/donors, click on the “Donate” button, and add a special instruction “For the Al Wurz Fund.” The Foundation also accepts checks made payable to MHEFI and mailed to 8720 Red Oak Blvd., Suite 201, Charlotte, NC 28217. Please make a note on the check that the funds are “For the Al Wurz Fund.”
